Vision

SOMA develops high-fidelity digital twins of aerospace platforms by combining AIaugmented OSINT with engineering expertise to extract technical data from open sources and support detailed CAD modeling. Models are validated through physics-based simulations (CFD, FEM, FSI), enabling accurate reconstruction.

R&D focuses on improving digital twin accuracy through deep data integration and advanced AI, accelerating engineering workflows and supporting decision-making, augmented design, and risk and uncertainty reduction. The approach enhances simulation for training, control systems, and defense preparedness, and is scalable to naval and dual-use applications, supporting Europe’s technological sovereignty.

STRATEGIC RELEVANCE

SOMA’s development strategy is based on a portfolio of complementary projects designed to achieve technological sovereignty in engineering, AI, and high-fidelity simulations.

By progressively building scientific expertise and infrastructure, the strategy aims to deliver mature technological solutions that are independent of foreign proprietary software.

The foundation of this ecosystem is laid by the ECHO and HESTIA projects, which focus on digital twins and high-performance numerical models. Developed in collaboration with Italian universities and supported by PhD positions, these initiatives utilise strictly open-source software and dedicated resources to establish a solid, autonomous scientific base; both ECHO and HESTIA have been submitted to the PNRM.

Building on this capability, DAEDALUS evolves the strategy towards Deep Reasoning AI and European partnerships and is planned for submission to the EIC Pathfinder Challenge DeepRAP, while METIS serves as the operational platform to validate and transfer these technologies to industry and is expected to be used as a tested in selected university courses. The entire ecosystem will be powered by a proprietary GPU-based HPC infrastructure, ensuring the necessary computing power for advanced simulations and AI training.

This coherent path drives SOMA from national consolidation to international expansion, fostering continuous innovation and strategic autonomy.
